GenPride Community Center
LGBTQIA+ seniors face a unique set of challenges and health disparities as they age. Compared to their peers, they are more likely to experience wealth disparities, are at higher risk for illness, are less likely to have the support of children or biological family, and often face discrimination and difficulty finding culturally competent care.
Pride Place is designed to be an affirming environment for LGBTQIA+ elders. GenPride, a nonprofit focused on serving LGBTQIA+ seniors, operates a 4,400 square foot community center on the ground floor of Pride Place. The center provides specialized programs and services, including meals, educational and fitness programs, and recreational events throughout the year. The center will also feature an onsite health center offering sensitive specialized services.
